BaoBae means treasure or darling in Chinese – a fitting name for our husband-and-wife venture rooted in love for food and hospitality. Dan brings decades of restaurant experience, while May adds a sharp eye for business and guest experience. Together, we're excited to bring bold, modern Chinese cuisine to Zurich.
Led by Chef Dan Shu (Gaijin Izakaya, Old Inn, Tsukasa and Chifa Izakaya), we serve elevated Chinese food inspired by diverse regional flavors and reimagined through a modern lens. From fiery Sichuan to delicate Cantonese influences, our menu celebrates China’s rich diversity and every dish is a tribute to Chef Dan’s roots and culinary creativity.

A distinct and thoughtful wine list, formulated by our Chef de Service Paul Waldschuetz and Stefano Petta (Director of wine - The Living Circle | Switzerland's best sommelier | Gault Millau Sommelier of the Year 2024), featuring rare “Dragon” wines and fun modern winemakers, drink what you love or follow our Somm’s guidance.
