ABOUT US
BaoBae is a modern Chinese restaurant near Lochergut in Zurich, founded by Chef Dan and May Shu. We serve creative Chinese sharing plates, a seasonal tasting menu, Asian-inspired cocktails and a curated wine selection. Guests can dine indoors, on our courtyard terrace or reserve a separate section for group celebrations.
BaoBae means “treasure” or “darling” in Chinese, a fitting name for our husband-and-wife venture rooted in a shared love of food and hospitality. Drawing on Dan’s extensive experience at restaurants including Michelin recognized Gaijin Izakaya, Old Inn, Tsukasa and Chifa Izakaya, our cuisine celebrates China’s diverse regional flavors through a modern lens. From fiery Sichuan influences to delicate Cantonese notes, each dish reflects Chef Dan’s roots, creativity and personal interpretation of Chinese food.
