Welcome to BaoBae – a new Asian Fusion restaurant in Zurich where tradition meets innovation. 

ABOUT US

BaoBae means treasure or darling in Chinese – a fitting name for our husband-and-wife venture rooted in love for food and hospitality. Dan brings decades of restaurant experience, while May adds a sharp eye for business and guest experience. Together, we're excited to bring bold, modern Chinese cuisine to Zurich.

Led by Chef Dan Shu (Gaijin Izakaya, Old Inn, Tsukasa and Chifa Izakaya), we serve elevated Chinese food inspired by diverse regional flavors and reimagined through a modern lens. From fiery Sichuan to delicate Cantonese influences, our menu celebrates China’s rich diversity and every dish is a tribute to Chef Dan’s roots and culinary creativity.

Complement your meal with inventive drinks on tap by the infamous Marco Colelli (Best Bartender World Class Switzerland 2025 | Liquid creator | Ora bar) and John Oquendo (Liquid creator) at one of Zurich’s coolest cocktail bars, right here in our vibrant asian bar. A distinct and thoughtful wine list, formulated by our Chef de Service Paul Waldschuetz and Stefano Petta (Director of wine - The Living Circle | Switzerland's best sommelier | Gault Millau Sommelier of the Year 2024), featuring rare “Dragon” wines and fun modern winemakers, drink what you love or follow our Somm’s guidance. Wines or Cocktails, the drinks selection just might be better than the food! Our signature crafted cocktails that fuse asian ingredients with mixology artistry, make it the perfect spot for evening vibes or a night out.
